Blundells Fishery Trio Pool August 2018

My latest venture out was to Blundells Fishery near Rixton, last time I fished here was well over 8 years ago, I was on holiday for a week and decided to try the Trio pool.Matches take place Saturday & Sunday so it's not possible to get on for a spot of pleasure fishing. My mate Stu had fished one of the midweek matches a few weeks ago and had won the match. There are plenty of fish in the pool and I was hoping for a good day out

Stu said I should try Peg 9 so I made my way along the bank and set up my gear, peg 9 is quite wide and looks ideal for a method feeder approach. It was quite a warm day and I was going to fish 4mm banded pellet shallow. I had several rigs set up at various depths, float choice for the shallow work was a Map S2 4 x 12 dibber and for the slighlty deeper rigs I used a Map S3 4 x 12 float.Mainline was .145 with an LWG size 18 hook on a 3 inch .125 hooklength with a micro band .

I started the session off on my top two & 2 sections, I kept throwing pellets into the swim whilst setting up and my first put in saw the eleastic shoot out and I had an F1 of around 3lbs.This was a good start to the session and I never looked back as I kept bringing fish to the net.The fish were moving up an down the water column and I kept having to look for them, towards the end of the session I had to put on another section and also a 3 foot rig, the swim was fizzing and the F1's were on the feed.

I had my clicker with me and in just over 5 hours I had 107lbs, some of the match weights on this venue are massive but I was happy with how the day had gone,I'd caught fish constantly and they do pull quite hard .Elastic choice was white hydro .

I've been fishing for F1's quite a lot this season and had some good weights while pleasure fishing, just got the try and put it all together in an open match and smash my PB weight.I've watched a lot of videos on you tube and these have certainly helped me put more fish in the net, so a big thanks to all the top match anglers for sharing your tips.
